Here's a self portrait that Haze bought from me. I consider self portraits a benchmark for progress. This one demonstrates that my cut paper method can be used outside of the purely silly and comical vein. Its a bit more "dark" than everything else...but aren't self portraits supposed to be a bit "Goth"...

Very nice - Goth yes, but it also has a film noir look.
I'm suprised you thought the cut paper couldn't be used for something more serious. The material has nothing to do it!
Lobsterboy stuff sounds like fun, but still not clear exactly what you'll be doing, sounds like everything.
the paper creates a uniform, bright, colorspace with a Sharp edge. That is the formula for most traditional cell animation. So I have been struggling to make work that will use the technique, without being overtly Hanna-Barbara....not that cartoons are bad, I think that their inherent shorthand is what makes them successful. Photo realism makes little sense now because photography can do it so much better. But the "pop"ness of cartooning has become cultural orthodoxy (even though ray guns and tiki don't make it into the "A"rt institutions) and I get nervous when something becomes too accepted...
So, now that I know how to get to your blog, I have been able to catch up with your life and am prepared to make comments. Watch out:)
