Mashup Fest and Landless Kickstarter

There must have been a typhoid Mary backstage at Elvis Birthday Fight Club, because most everyone involved backstage in the show wound up sick with the flu afterwards...including yours truly. So, that means that not much of the ole art has been accomplished in these two weeks post fight club. However, things march on without us...namely, Landless Theater Company. They are gearing up to open the first show in their season: the Mashup Fest!

The Mash Up Festival - four irreverent mash-ups written by four talented local playwrights.

Four shows in one night!
February 4 - 26
Friday and Saturday nights
DC Arts Center, 2438 18th Street, Washington, DC
(in the heart of Adams Morgan)

Yours truly has not contributed much to the shows...other than the occasional prop and this bush for Tarxxxanadu (I apologize for the crappy cell phone photo):

The other thing that Landless has announced in the past week is their Kickstarter campaign which actually provides a good deal on many of the ticket prices and subscriptions (as well as quirky incentives like "Chinese food with the artistic team of China the Whole Enchilada"...

Landless Theatre Company Kickstarter Project-

Please support our 2011 Season at District of Columbia Arts Center in Adams Morgan! Your donation will help us to front production expenses... and, of course, support all the gifted artists who work so hard to create FUN theatre in an INTIMATE venue with AFFORDABLE ticket prices for all patrons.

We're planning several exciting and quirky regional premieres to Washington, DC:
  • a MASH UP PLAY FESTIVAL featuring original works by four local playwrights;
  • the DC Premiere of the internet sensation DR. HORRIBLE'S SING-ALONG BLOG from Joss Whedon and friends;
  • CHINA:THE WHOLE ENCHILADA, winner of the 2008 Outstanding Musical at NY Fringe;
  • THE B TEAM by Dave Holstein, writer for Showtime's hit series WEEDS;
  • and two new plays based on G. Xavier Robillard's novel CAPTAIN FREEDOM - A SUPERHERO'S QUEST FOR TRUTH, JUSTICE AND THE CELEBRITY HE SO RICHLY DESERVES and Michael Shilling's novel ROCK BOTTOM.

  • Play your part in our mission to keep live theatre alive and kicking, and reap some mad rewards in the process! For more information on Landless Theatre Company, visit us online at landlesstheatrecompany.org.

ELVIS BIRTHDAY FIGHT CLUB MEMORIES....

Wow, what a night! We had two sold out shows, added a third in between (which also sold out) and still had to turn people away! And for those who stood out in the cold to get in, it was soooo worth it! Below I have compiled a "best of" photo gallery of the show, provided by our good friends at Stereo Vision photography. (there were other sources of photography, and commentary...Here at BYT, Here at MetroMix and Here on the blog of the woman who did trivia in the third show...but Stereo Vision had the most comprehensive photo coverage...)
